She has just entered the history of the 7th Art. Zoe Saldana became the first actress to star in no less than four films that grossed over $2 billion at the box office. This record broke after the last film she starred in, Avatar, surpassed that amount at the box office. The other three films to break this record are Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar and its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water. Avatar director James Cameron also made history over the weekend, becoming the only director to direct three films that topped $2 billion at the worldwide box office, according to TMZ.
Among these feature films, there is Titanic, the first part of Avatar and the second. Indeed, the latter has exploded all records in just a few weeks. This milestone achievement makes Avatar: The Way Of The Water “the six highest-grossing films of all time,” according to Deadline. The highly anticipated sequel would have been “one of the most expensive films ever made, with an estimated budget of $350 million or more.” The news comes after James Cameron confirmed that there will indeed be Avatar sequels. “It looks like with the momentum the movie has now, we’ll easily get through our hiatus even in the next few days, so it looks like I can’t get by and I’m going to have to do these other sequels.”

The famous director then added that he expects to have a discussion with Disney soon about what will happen with Avatar 3: “We have already captured and photographed the entire film, so we are in extended post-production to make all that CG magic. And then Avatar 4 and 5 are both written. We even have a couple of 4s in the box. This comes after Avatar: The Way Of Water became the highest-grossing movie of 2022.”
