Twist in the Yannick Agnel affair. After being taken into custody Thursday for rape of a minor, the former Olympic swimming champion was indicted this Saturday, December 11.

Yannick Agnel was, however, released and placed under judicial supervision while the Public Prosecutor’s Office had requested pre-trial detention.

“I must let justice do its job”

As a reminder, the alleged victim filed a complaint last summer against Yannick Agnel for rape and sexual assault on a minor. This is none other than the daughter of her former coach Lionel Horter at Mulhouse Olympic Swimming, 13 years old at the time of the alleged facts, in 2016.

Yannick Agnel was arrested at his home in Paris this Thursday, December 9 at noon on rogatory commission as part of a judicial investigation opened in Mulhouse for “rape and sexual assault on a minor of 15 years”.

Touched by this affair, the Minister for Sports, Roxana Maracineanu was keen to speak on this subject: “I personally know the person who lodged the complaint. You can imagine that it particularly affects me.” before adding: “We must act quickly, that the people in question are heard as quickly as possible. I must let justice do its job.”

Case to follow.
