On July 1, Princess Diana would have turned 60, an event that will be marked by the inauguration of her memorial. Princes William and Harry are eagerly awaited at this event. But contrary to what they have always shown in previous events of such importance, the two brothers remain in their position.
William and Harry have been very close in the past from afar, such as when they announced in a joint statement in 2017: “Princess Diana is a woman of the family”. They also wanted the statue of Princess Diana at Kensington Palace to help visitors “reflect on her life and her legacy.”
Currently, relations between Diana’s sons are at an all-time low. They are very distant from each other emotionally and physically. Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties, they have been living in California. Prince William did not fail to congratulate his brother on the arrival of his daughter Lilibet Diana, but without any further exchange.
“She would find it devastating to see the bond they once shared so destroyed.”
Katie Nicholl, author of Harry and Meghan speaks out that William and Harry were the pride of their mother. According to her, if the Princess of Wales was still here, the situation could have been different. For her, if Prince Charles shows indifference to the situation, this would not have been the case with the princess.
Knowing Princess Diana, she states that “she would have gathered them together and slapped them on the head. She would be deeply upset by the way things turned out.” Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward also states that Diana would have been unhappy to see her sons torn apart.
