It’s a tradition she has every year. This Monday, June 28, 2021, Queen Elizabeth II began her “Holyrood Week”, in other words her week of official engagements in Scotland. There is no doubt that this year, this week must have a very particular taste for the sovereign, because everything had been canceled in 2020 because of the global pandemic. So for the return of this “Holyrood Week”, the meetings will take place without too many people and in very specific settings to respect the sanitary conditions. In addition, this is Queen Elizabeth II’s very first official trip since the death of her husband, Prince Philip, in April.
As a first stop, the Queen of England arrived in Cumbernauld, a town about twenty kilometers from Glasgow. She went to AG Barr, a factory which is a true national institution. The 95-year-old monarch wore, as usual, a sky blue suit with a matching hat. Side accessories, she had bet on a pearl necklace, white gloves, a black handbag and black shoes too. With a smile on her face, she was beaming at the side of her grandson, Prince William.
How many days will Queen Elizabeth II stay?
According to information from the Daily Mail, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, is also due to join her on Wednesday and Thursday, to participate in several of her engagements. During her Scottish stay which will last four days, the sovereign must go to Glasgow or Stirling. She will notably reside in her royal palace at Holyroodhouse, which is located in Edinburgh. As for Prince William, he will return to England because an important event awaits him. And for good reason, this Thursday, July 1, he must go to the inauguration of the statue of Princess Diana, with his little brother, Prince Harry.
