It was an argument that could have turned into a tragedy. It was around 6:40 a.m. on Sunday February 5 when a couple arrived at Créteil-Pompadour station, in Val-de-Marne. After a first argument “in a train en route to Paris”, the couple goes down to the platform and continues to argue. The tone escalates and the man, aged around fifty, violently pushes his companion on the tracks of the RER D, before fleeing.
For his part, the victim, aged 43, collapsed on the rails, before being quickly rescued by another user. After the arrival of the police and firefighters, the woman was transported to the Henri Mondor hospital in Créteil. She was injured in the hip and suffers from minor injuries, but her vital prognosis is not engaged. Fortunately, his head did not hit the rails and no RER arrived at the time of his fall. A real tragedy could have happened in front of the eyes of other RER users that day.
The man fled before being arrested
According to information from Le Parisien, the scene of violence was filmed by CCTV footage and the man quickly left the station after pushing his companion. To do this, he took a large staircase to reach the exit. Despite his description and the rapid intervention of the police, he was not immediately found. An investigation for attempted homicide was opened and the investigations were entrusted to the Créteil police station.
Finally, the main suspect was arrested a little more than 24 hours after his escape. He was taken into custody for attempted homicide. The investigation should now continue to try to shed light on the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
