This Tuesday, March 29, 2022 is a very special day for all Britons. Indeed, the royal family went to the tribute of Prince Philip, who died on April 9, 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the funeral of the husband of Queen Elizabeth II had been organized in small committee. Only around 30 people were able to attend Prince Philip’s funeral. This Tuesday, thousands of Britons were invited to pay tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh at Westminster. A ceremony which was widely scrutinized by the international media, which all sought the presence of Queen Elizabeth II.

And for good reason, it has been weeks since the monarch has been seen in public since her contamination with Covid-19. Around 12:00 p.m., Buckingham Palace services confirmed the presence of Queen Elizabeth II, alongside Prince Andrew. It was around 12:40 p.m. that the grandmother of Princes William and Harry appeared in Westminster Abbey by taking a backdoor to avoid a journey that was far too long. If the British could not see her entering the abbey but the royal standard flew over Westminster. Earlier in the morning, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton arrived with their first two children, George and Charlotte.

Prince Harry absent

Prince Charles arrived with Camilla Parker-Bowles. This tribute to Prince Philip was also attended by Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, who paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of her jubilee: “Today marks a truly historic moment, as Her Majesty The Queen becomes the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, the Prime Minister has said.During her seven-decade reign, she has shown an inspiring sense of duty and unwavering devotion to the nation “. Only Prince Harry was indeed absent from the ceremony.
