Mariana Sousa Bustamante, a 21-year-old medical student, is left alone by her roommates. His roommates, male and female, are also of Brazilian origin. The three students are continuing their medical studies in Bolivia. While her two roommates left to party, the young medical student fell to her death from a balcony on the sixth floor. The circumstances of the death of Mariana Sousa, a third-year medical student at Unifranz Cochabamba University, Bolivia, are mysterious to say the least.

Quoted by The Sun, Juliane Sousa, the mother of Mariana, revealed that her daughter had bruises on her face as well as on her arms. Mariana’s mother also said authorities have reason to believe the possibility of foul play. The Brazilian student’s roommates have already been questioned by the authorities. Bolivian police have released them, reports The Sun. The alibi of the two roommates of the poor Brazilian student was confirmed by CCTV footage.

The two Brazilian students, roommates of Mariana, claimed to have returned from their party at around 2:50 a.m. after leaving the dorm on the evening of November 6, 2022. Upon their return, they found that the balcony door was open and that Mariana was below. According to her mother, the case of Mariana’s mysterious death is being treated as a “presumed homicide”. The young Brazilian student was a happy girl according to her mother and seemed enthusiastic about being accepted to work for the Bolivian Red Cross. “She was talking to everyone, was at peace and was doing very well. That day, the three students were at home, they had lunch together,” said Juliane Sousa.
