Somerset County is a rural area interwoven with airy plains, but the Covid-19 has done the same damage there as anywhere else in England. In this ocean of deaths caused by the coronavirus, love has nevertheless managed to flourish. It was in Shepton Mallet, a small town in the county, that love at first sight struck. Last summer, Lauren Biffen and Martin Green found each other …
She is a 22 year old nursing student and works for the local ambulance service. He is a 25-year-old volunteer firefighter who, during the pandemic, is helping out with his experience in driving vehicles and providing emergency care. At the start of June, after teaming up in combat for the first time and going through a trying day, Lauren sees Martin checking an ambulance. “Out of the action, I watched him better, and I said to myself that he was not bad at all”, remembers the young woman. Not having cold feet, she decides to take the first step.
“In these times of war against Covid, we have become a zone of peace for each other”
“There was something very special about Lauren,” says Martin. “I had appreciated the professional, but there, when she came to see me at the end of the day, lively, smiling, I kind of discovered her, and I immediately felt that something was going on between us. ” “We started talking, and immediately the power went on! We saw each other again the next evening, we talked, we kissed. And over the days, in these times of war against the virus, we are become for each other a zone of peace “, explains, radiant, the young caregiver.
Our lovers admire each other’s skills. “Firefighters know how to drive in emergency situations, safely and smoothly, to transport patients to hospital, which makes a significant contribution during the pandemic,” recalls the blonde student. Martin, meanwhile, has boundless admiration for members of the medical profession.
Happy end: lovers are going to get married!
“I am literally blown away by the healthcare players for the incredible care, commitment and support they are providing at this time,” he says. But above all, lovers want to share a lot more than their working days. And so, last Christmas, Martin asked for the hand of his sweetheart, who obviously accepted. The couple moved into a lovely home, surrounded by their two cats, Sam and Lola, and their dog, Henry.
