Jaeli Thomas, originally from Texas in the United States, can boast of having a lucky star… or a really solid iPhone. And for good reason, the device saved his life!
The facts date back to 2019. At the time, Jaeli Thomas was at a party with friends. Everything was going well until a fight broke out and people started shooting in all directions. Ready to surrender to the police, the young woman was hit in the chest by a stray bullet. Fortunately, the iPhone she held in her hands took the impact, saving her life. “I was hit. The bullet grazed my finger, went through my phone before reaching my chest. It was only a few centimeters away,” she said in a video posted on her TikTok page.
Thanks to his iPhone, Jaeli avoided the worst: “The bullet would have caused much more damage and I would have had serious injuries. The ambulance took 30 minutes to arrive.” Those present at the party were convinced that the American was dead: “A lot of people stayed to help me and make sure I remained conscious.” Stitched up with seven stitches on her finger, the young woman was able to leave the hospital a few hours after the tragedy. Today, she still suffers from respiratory problems due to the fragments of the bullet lodged in her rib cage: “I can still feel them in my chest.”
Shooter ends up behind bars
Jaeli did not reveal the name of the shooter but said the criminal investigation had officially been completed: “I went to trial in August 2021 and they sentenced the culprit to 45 years in prison.” The young woman also showed the images of her iPhone completely destroyed by the impact of the bullet. A nice miracle that did not fail to react to Internet users. “I’m so glad you’re okay. Thank God you had your phone out,” the comments read. If the beautiful brunette is happy to be alive, she currently has to reimburse 80,000 dollars, or approximately 76,800 euros, for her medical care.
