Getting a loved one’s first name tattooed as a tribute has become common. From the initial to the full first name, many parents take the step of tattooing when their child is born.

But before definitively inking their baby’s name in their skin, it is better to check that the tattoo artist has noted it correctly! Unfortunately for Aaryn, a mother from the United States, this was not the case.

A matter of letters

Speaking to her community on the social network TikTok, Aaryn, a young mother of two boys, revealed that she had the name of her youngest son, Michael, tattooed on the inside of her left arm. In his video, Aaryn was interviewing his community. “When you get a tattoo of someone’s name, what’s the worst thing that can happen? she asked, adding “It’s not breaking up, it’s that it’s misspelled.” Aaryn then explained that she had not realized the mistake of the tattoo artist on the first name of her son, during the session. She had only discovered it once back home, when she had removed the bandage protecting him.

An unnoticed mistake

“Now imagine going to get your kids’ names tattooed and not realizing after looking at all the stencils to choose the right size, that it was misspelled,” she said. “They place the stencil and you still don’t see it,” she continued. “They tattoo this fucking thing on you and you still don’t see it,” she said. Her video, which went viral with more than 150,000 views, sparked a flurry of comments, with some followers offering her ways to fix the mistake, including changing the spelling of her son’s first name. One person shared their experience “My dad asked my son to spell his name so he could get a tattoo. He did it. But my child spelled it wrong.”
