Everything takes place aboard a 2019 Jaguar F-Pace, Sunday evening around 8:13 p.m. The victim accompanies three other women, including her 24-year-old sister who is sitting in the front passenger seat. Taniyria Holt was handling a 9mm as they all checked in on smartphones, according to the Miami Beach Police report to PEOPLE.
According to what she told police on waiving her right to silence, Ms Holt intended to hand the gun to her sister believing it no longer contained an actual bullet. Indeed, she claimed that she had “racked the gun and observed the ejection of a live bullet”. Handing the gun to his sister who is sitting in the back, the shot was fired while the gun was still in her hand.
“Charged with manslaughter if Ponder dies”
Dre’Naya Ponder is the name of Tanyiria Holt’s 18-year-old sister, identified in an unredacted arrest report, according to what was reported to the Miami Herald. According to this report, the perpetrator of the accident is likely to be charged with manslaughter if his sister ever dies. The point is that the “victim is still on life support with no hope of survival.”
For the moment, Tanyiria Holt is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. This can be seen in the online prison registers. It is not yet possible to say whether Holt already has a lawyer or not. Separately, PEOPLE interviewed a Miami Police spokesperson for confirmation of the victim’s identity on Monday evening. The latter did not give an immediate response.
