Sepp Blatter will be “healed for a long time”. On Thursday January 21, the daughter of former FIFA president Corinne told CH Media that her father had been placed in an artificial coma after undergoing heart surgery. Hospitalized since last December, he spent no less than four weeks in intensive care. A state of health which, according to her, “has undoubtedly been altered” by the coronavirus, which he contracted last November but for which he had no symptoms.
“The operation on the heart was a routine intervention, explains Corinne Blatter, relayed by Le Nouvelliste. But with the Covid-19, it has become more complicated, more dangerous too”. According to Sepp Blatter’s daughter, the legal quarrels with the former FIFA president since 2015 are also not helping his state of health. “We can not imagine the pressure he has had to face for five years,” she said, while the ex-businessman is still targeted by three investigations, while he continues since 2015 corruption scandals.
Corinne Blatter wants FIFA to leave her father “in peace”
First for the controversial payment of 2 million Swiss francs (1.8 million euros) to Michel Platini, then president of UEFA, in 2011, validated by Sepp Blatter without a written contract, and which is worth to both men to be prosecuted for “unfair management”, “fraud” and “breach of trust”. Since last May, Swiss justice has also been interested in a loan of one million dollars granted in 2010 by FIFA to the Football Federation of Trinidad and Tobago, then chaired by Jack Warner, while Gianni Infantino, who now head of FIFA, filed a complaint last December against Sepp Blatter for “criminal mismanagement” because of the pharaonic project of the football museum in Zurich. A last action which he ignores for the moment everything, specifies his daughter who concludes: “I want FIFA to leave my father in peace. Only his recovery counts.”
