This is a big first for Vogue. This Tuesday, March 9, the famous American fashion magazine lifted the veil on the front page of its April issue on which Selena Gomez appears. The 28-year-old singer and actress poses at home, in her garden, wearing a floral dress edged with black feathers by Saint Laurent. If the shot is particularly successful and well chosen, it is also historic. Indeed, this photo was captured by Nadine Ijewere, a London photographer, whose family is from Jamaica and Nigeria. The latter thus becomes the first black woman to sign a photo on the cover of Vogue US. A real dream for the 29-year-old young woman who shared her joy on Instagram: “I hope that by showing black women that there is a place for her in this industry, it will motivate them” – she wrote before thanking the team with which she collaborated “in these difficult times”.
As reported by the Huff Post, Nadine Ijewere had already pointed out the lack of diversity in the world of photography during an interview for British Vogue. She said that at the time of her photography studies, “there were hardly any color photographers in the area.” If, today she has “the feeling of being part of a wave of change”, Anna Wintour had recognized a few months ago that she had not given enough “space to publishers, writers, photographers, black designers and creators ”in the pages of Vogue.
Soon the end of the music for Selena Gomez?
In her interview with Vogue, Selena Gomez made terrible confidences that have already greatly worried her fans. Indeed, the ex-Disney star hinted that she could put an end to her musical career, tired of criticism of her: “It’s hard to keep making music when people don’t take you. really seriously. There were times when I asked myself, ‘What is my goal? Why do I keep doing this?’ Lose You to Love Me was for me the best song I have ever released and for some people it was not enough yet. ” she lamented. However, as Justin Bieber’s ex is about to release a new album, she still says she is grateful to her audience: “I think there are a lot of people who love my music and for that I I’m grateful and I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it will be different. I want to give myself one last chance before I maybe stop the music, “the star revealed.
