  • Country : England

Thomas van Straubenzee comes from a British military family. Son of Alexander and Claire van Straubenzee, he is the eldest of the siblings. He has two brothers, Charlie and Henry. His father is responsible for the circulation of the political magazine The Spectator.

Childhood friend of Prince William of England, they met at Ludgrove Primary School. They then continued their studies at Eton College. Since then, they have remained close friends. Like Prince William, Thomas’ adolescence is marked by a family drama. In 2002, his little brother Henry died in a car accident. His family created a foundation in memory of Henry van Straubenzee, of which Prince William became one of the sponsors. In 2005, Thomas took part in the Prince’s official trip to New Zealand. William of England chose Thomas as godfather of his daughter Charlotte at her baptism in July 2015.

Thomas van Straubenzee enters the world of high-end real estate and in 2012, together with a partner, founds the VanHan company. The company’s business flourishes and it is acquired by the real estate company Knight Frank in 2018. Thomas van Straubenzee is appointed head of Knight Frank’s private practice.

On the private side, he shares the life of Lucy Lanigan-O’Keeffe, a teacher at Thomas’s Battersea School in London. In June 2019, the couple got engaged. Previously, he was married to Lady Melissa Percy, daughter of the Duke of Northumberland. But the marriage turns short and the couple separates in March 2016, barely three years after their marriage.
