Stéfanos Tsitsipás was born on August 12, 1998, in Athens, Greece. His father is Greek and his mother is Russian, a former professional tennis player, and his parents are both tennis teachers. He has two brothers, Petros, also a tennis player, and Pavlos, and a sister, Elisavet, he is the oldest of the siblings.
It is therefore quite natural that he starts playing tennis at the age of six. Two years later, he goes to live with his coach and improves his skills. In 2014, he joins the junior circuit, and is quickly noticed by his talent, and in 2015, he joins the famous Mouratoglou Academy. He continues to be coached by his father, and little by little, he climbs to the top of the junior ranking, and finishes 1st, in 2016.
The same year, he became a pro and participated in many tournaments, both in singles and doubles. And he climbs in the world ranking, and in 2017, he becomes the first Greek player to be ranked in the ATP top 100. He will win seven ATP tournaments, and reaches several Grand Slam semi-finals: Australian Open 2019 and 2021, French Open 2020. And on June 13, 2021, he plays for the first time in his career, a Grand Slam final, at Roland Garros. The Greek tennis player lost to Novak Djokovic, in 5 sets, after having won the first two. After this final, he finished fourth in the ATP rankings.
