Born on February 14, 1970, Simon Pegg is an English actor, screenwriter and director. Fascinated by comedy, he studied art in Bristol where he was spotted on stage.

His talent allowed him to make his television debut in series such as Asylum, Big Train and Hippies. In 1999, he co-created the sitcom Les Allumés which propelled him to the rank of British comedy star. For this series, he won the award for Best Emerging Male Comedy Artist at the British Comedy Awards. With Edgar Wright, he wrote the horror comedy and parody of zombie movies with Shaun of the Dead (2004) where he headlined with his best friend Nick Frost. The film is a huge success and counts among his fans a certain J.J. Abrams.

Seduced by the comic genius of Simon Pegg, J.J. Abrams hires him to play Benji, the geek sidekick of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), in Mission Impossible 3 (2006). A role that he is taking over in other parts of the franchise. J.J Abrams chose him again in 2009 to play Montgomerry “Scotty” Scott in the Star Trek reboots. Following the writer’s departure, he was chosen to write the screenplay for Star Trek Beyond, the third film in the new trilogy, scheduled for 2016.

On the private side, Simon Pegg has been married since 2005 to Maureen McCann. Together, they have a daughter born in 2009.
