Rupert Grint was born on 24th August 1988 in Watton-at-Stone in Hertfordshire, England. The eldest of five children, he comes from a modest family. His father, a souvenir seller, is a former racing driver. Young Rupert attended a Catholic school in Brighton and became interested in theatre. However, at the turn of the millennium, his life took a completely different turn.
Rupert Grint’s career began in 2001 in the role of the wizard Ronald Weasley, Harry Potter’s best friend. This first part of the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter at the Wizard’s Stone School was followed until 2011 by eight more feature films from the same saga, in which Grint put his comedic skills to work for Ron, a character who, however, became increasingly dramatic in the final episodes of the saga.
In parallel to this series of films, Rupert was also involved in other projects such as Thunderpants in 2002 (Plein Gaz). At the age of sixteen, he decided to put his studies on hold to devote himself to the 7th art: we find him in 2006 in Driving Lessons, in 2009 in Cherrybomb and in Wild Target the following year. Between 2013 and 2014, the young actor also plays at the London theatre in the play Mojo, and on Broadway in It’s Only a Play. These roles on the stage earned him the Best Emerging Actor Award and several nominations.
On the private side, he has been sharing the life of actress Georgia Groome since 2011. In April 2020, the actor’s agent announces that the couple is expecting their first child. On May 7, 2020, a press release announces that the couple gave birth to a little girl.
