Robin Alan Thicke was born on March 10, 1977 in Los Angeles. He grew up between a Canadian actor, composer and producer father, Alan Thicke, and a singing mother, Gloria Loring. Very young he rubs shoulders with the world of showbiz and at fourteen years old, Robin, who already imitates to perfection Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, sets up his group and sings in churches.
Precocious, Robin launches out at 16 years old as producer and author. He becomes lyricist and collaborates with many celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony… But by dint of being in contact with these artists, the desire comes to him to taste the joys of celebrity. In 2002 he released his first single When I Get You Alone from his album Cherry Blue Skies (released in 2003 as A Beautiful World). The success is mitigated. If Australia and New Zealand seem to be receptive to his music, it is not the case in the United States who are not interested in the album.
The singer is not discouraged and starts working on a second opus entitled The Evolution of Robin Thicke. For the first single, Wanna Love U Girl (2005) he calls upon the famous producer Pharrell Williams. The beginnings are promising, but it is with the second single Lost Without U (2006), which accompanies the release of the album, that sales take off. In the end, The Evolution of Robin Thicke became No. 1 in the R&B charts and No. 5 in overall sales.
After many concerts – including opening for Beyoncé’s American tour – Robin went back to work to release his third album, Something Else, in September 2008. The album was a huge success, selling nearly 500,000 copies in the United States.
Her fifth album, Love After War, will be released at the end of 2011. For this record, Robin decides to address more personal themes, but the public does not follow and sales are disappointing. This gap will be quickly forgotten with the release in March 2013 of the single Blurred Lines, which precedes the album of the same name in stores. The effective music and the very hot video clip – several models, including Emily Ratajkowski, walking around with Robin, Pharrell Williams and the rapper T.I. – make Blurred Lines the biggest success of the singer.
On the personal side, Robin was married to actress Paula Patton (2005-2014). The couple has a son, Julian, born in April 2010. In 2014, he meets the model April Love Geary. In August 2017, the couple announced the pregnancy of the model. On February 22, 2018, Robin Thicke announces the birth of his daughter Mia. In August, April Love announces that she is pregnant again, the birth is scheduled for March 2019. On December 24, 2018, the couple announces their engagement on social networks. On February 26, 2019, the couple gives birth to a daughter named Lola. On December 12, 2020, April Love Geary announces the birth of their third child, a boy named Luca Patrick.
