Peter Mark Andrew Phillips was born on November 15, 1977 in London. Son of Princess Anne of England and Mark Phillips, he has a younger sister, Zara, born in 1981. Mark Phillips refused the peerage offered by Queen Elizabeth of England on the day of his marriage, so he could not be knighted and his children could not receive royal titles. Peter Phillips was, however, listed in the order of succession to the throne and ranked 15th. He was 15 years old when his parents divorced. That same year, Princess Anne remarried Timothy Laurence. He has two half-sisters, Felicity and Stephanie, on his father’s side.

After his schooling in Dorset and Scotland, he enrolled at the University of Exeter and graduated with a degree in sports science. During his studies, he played rugby and joined his campus team, the Exeter University Rugby League Team. In the early 2000’s, also a motorsports enthusiast, he began his career with the Formula 1 team, Jaguar Racing. Later he worked for Williams as a sponsor manager.

In 2005, he joined the Royal Bank of Scotland, based in Edinburgh. After several years of experience at the financial institution, he decided to take on a new challenge and took over the reins of SEL UK, a subsidiary of the Australian company Sports & Entertainment Limited specializing in sports sponsorship, in 2012.

In January 2020, the queen’s grandson caused controversy when he appeared in an advertisement for a milk brand in China and used his membership in the royal family.

On the private side, in June 2003, he met the Canadian Autumn Kelly, during the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Canada. The couple got married on May 17, 2008 in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The couple has two children; Savannah (born on December 29, 2010) and Isla (born on March 29, 2012).

On February 11, 2020, Peter Phillips announces that he is separated from Autumn Kelly. The official statement follows an information published by The Sun newspaper the day before.
