Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Bloom was born on 13 January 1977 in Canterbury, England. In order to become an actor, Orlando studied from the age of 16 at the National Youth Theatre in London, then at the British American Drama Academy and the Guildhall School of Music And Drama, where he developed a passion for theatre.

After starring in Oscar Wilde (1997) in television and film, The Lord of the Rings enshrined him and made him an internationally renowned actor. In the saga of Peter Jackson, he played the elf Legolas between 2001 and 2003. Between 2012 and 2014, he takes over the role in the Hobbit trilogy. Alongside Johnny Depp, he plays William Turner in the first three episodes of the Pirate of the Caribbean saga (2003-07).
