Born on January 1, 1980 in Carcassonne, Olivia Ruiz is a French singer and actress of Spanish origin. Daughter of the musician and singer Didier Blanc, Olivia has been immersed in music from a very young age. She took theater and dance classes and formed a rock band with her friends, which they named Five. The little band wins several springboards for young talents in the Aude. Olivia also sings a duet with her father, covering the mythical repertoire of French and Spanish songs.
In 2001, the young woman is discovered by the general public thanks to her participation in the Star Academy. She failed in the semi-final against Jenifer but, noticed by the record companies, she signed with Universal. She will never stop moving away from the Star Ac’ image and imposing her own style. After knocking on the door of several artists, it is finally Juliette who trusts her talent and writes the title J’aime pas l’amour. Olivia released her first eponymous album in 2003. Her success was resounding: her freshness and poetry seduced the public, she was played on all the radio stations and she was nominated in the category of revelation on stage at the 2005 Victoires de la Musique awards.
La Femme Chocolat, her second album was released in 2005. For this second opus, she collaborates with Christophe Mali (from Tryo), Juliette, Mathias Malzieu the singer of Dionysos or Christian Olivier from Têtes Raides. Olivia is again successful with a million albums sold. J’traine les pieds and La femme chocolat resonate in all ears. In 2007, she won two Victoires de la Musique awards as female artist and show of the year.
In 2009, she released her 3rd album Miss Météores for which she wrote all the lyrics in French. The following year, she gave a series of concerts throughout France, focusing on small venues, to stay close to her audience. She wins again a Victoire de la musique as a female artist and clip of the year for Elle panique. At the end of 2010, Olivia decides to make new experiences: she plays for the first time in Un jour mon père viendra de Martin Valente. She designs the Christmas decorations for the BHV windows and participates in the musical project Les Françoises. Her fourth album is finally released in December 2012, entitled Le calme et la tempête. In 2013, she wins for the 3rd time a Crystal Globe for the category of Female Artist Performer.
On the private side, Olivia Ruiz shared the life of the musician Mathias Malzieu between 2005 and 2011. She found love again on the arm of musical programmer Nicolas Preschey and gave birth to their first child in November 2015, a little boy named Nino.
