Michelle Pfeiffer was born on April 29, 1958 in Santa Ana, California. Daughter of a heating engineer and a housewife, she is the second of four children. She spent her childhood in Midway City where she attended school. She then began to study stenography but the discovery of the theater will gradually make her change her path. She chose to take acting classes to try her luck. At the same time, her pretty face allows her to participate in Miss contests, while accumulating odd jobs to gain her independence.
The aspiring actress scoured auditions and made her debut in the American series Delta House in 1979. In 1988, the consecration comes with The Dangerous Liaisons by Stephen Frears which allows her to win the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The following year her performance in Susie and the Baker Boys in which she played a singer earned her the Golden Globe for Best Actress. During the 90s, she won many important roles; Catwoman in Batman: The Challenge (1992), The Time of Innocence (1993), Wolf (1994), or Rebellious Spirits (1996) … In 2000, she played Harrison Ford in the thriller Appearances and then lent her voice to the animated film Sinbad: The Legend of the Seven Seas (2003), before taking a break in her career to devote herself to her personal life.
In 2007, Michelle Pfeiffer returned to the film set and began working with Adam Shankman (Hairspray), Matthew Vaughn (Stardust the Mystery of the Star), Stephen Frears (Chéri), Tim Burton (Dark Shadows) and Luc Besson (Malavita). In 2017, she will star in three films: Where is Kyra, Mother, and The Crime of the Orient Express and will make a comeback on the small screen with the credits of the TV movie The Wizard of Lies.
On the personal side, Michelle Pfeiffer was married to Peter Horton (1981-1988). Since November 1993, the actress has been married to David E. Kelley, writer and television producer. The couple has two children; Claudia Rose born in 1993, whom Michelle Pfeiffer adopted before marrying David E. Kelley, and John Henry, born in 1994.
