Marlon Brando was born on April 3, 1924 in Omaho. The legendary actor made his debut on stage thanks to the director Elia Kazan, who gave him the violent role of Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire. The future sex symbol and emblem of a generation takes the role of Stanley in the cinema in 1951: his career is now launched. Two years later, he played a young rebel in a perfecto in The Wild Bunch. Camped on his Triumph motorcycle, the actor becomes a true icon that even James Dean will be inspired. The following year, Elia Kazan made him turn again in On the waterfront and Marlon won his first Oscar. If the actor remains cult, he sinks somewhat into oblivion in the 1960s by going behind the camera to make The revenge with two faces.

In 1972, he made a spectacular comeback in The Godfather by Francis Ford Coppola. His performance dazzled the whole world, the actor had never been so dedicated to a role. Brando, however, refused the Oscar for Best Actor and made a political stunt: he sent in his place an activist for Native American rights, a cause he ardently supports. The same year, Brando also turns The Last Tango in Paris, a cult film and polemic of Bernardo Bertolucci. Four years later, it is an overweight and weakened Brando who plays Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now by Coppola. The role of this lonely and decadent man seems to evoke Brando’s career, in a touching tribute. In 2004, at the age of 80, the icon died in Los Angeles.

In his private life, the conquests of the actor, both male and female, reach real peaks (Marilyn Monroe, Edith Piaf or François Forestier). Marlon married three times and ended his days at the side of his housekeeper. The actor gave birth to 14 children! A beautiful descendants for one of the most emblematic characters of American cinema.
