Mandy Moore was born on April 10, 1984 in Nashua, New Hampshire, USA. Daughter of an American Airlines pilot, she grew up in Orlando, Florida with her two brothers Scott and Kyle. As a child, she decided to become a singer after seeing the musical Oklahoma! She began taking singing lessons and performed at local events, including sports competitions where she sang the national anthem.

At age 15, the teenager was noticed by Epic Records and opened for the Backstreet Boys, followed by the release of her debut album So Real (1999).
