Lori Loughlin was born on July 28, 1964 in Queens, New York. Her father, Joseph Roy Loughlin, is foreman of the New York Telephone Company. The family moved to Long Island in 1965.

After a career as a supermodel, she made her acting debut in 1980 in The Edge of Night. She played the character of Jody Travis for three years before being hired to star in the hit series The Party at Home in 1988. Until 1995, she played the character of Rebecca Donaldson. In 1997, she made her first movie appearance in the film In the Line of Duty: Blaze of Glory. In 2013, she returned to the small screen in the series The Shop of Secrets in which she played a recurring role for five years. Between 2016 and 2018, she again played Rebecca Donaldson in Party at Home: 20 Years Later, a sequel to the eponymous series Party at Home, broadcast on Netflix.

On March 12, 2019, Lori Loughlin and her husband were arrested by police in the case of fraud in a university entrance exam. The couple was accused of paying $500,000 in bribes, disguised as a donation, to the Key Worldwide Foundation to secure college places for their daughters. On March 13, the couple was released after posting $1 million in bail. On March 14, Hallmark Channel breaks its ties with the actress, who later loses other contracts.

On the private side, since 1997, Lori Loughlin has been married to Mossimo Giannulli, creator of the Mossimo clothing line. From their union were born two daughters; Isabella Rose (1998) and Olivia Jade (1999). She is divorced from producer Michael R. Burns (1989-1996).
