Lil’ Kim is an American rapper born on July 11, 1974 in Brooklyn. Her childhood is far from being rosy. At the age of nine, she lived several months in a car with her mother, following the divorce of her parents. After a court decision, the young girl returns to live with her father but the cohabitation goes badly. When she was a teenager, her father evicted her from the family home. The young Kimberly lives in the street or with friends and accumulates odd jobs in various nightclubs. It is there that she meets the rapper The Notorious B.I.G.
Thanks to him, she starts her career with his group Junior M.A.F.I.A. of which she becomes the “Queen Bee”. In 1996, she recorded her first solo album Hard Core, double platinum record. After a second album in 2000, she was chosen to interpret the cover of Lady Marmalade for the soundtrack of the movie Moulin Rouge with Christina Aguilera, Pink and Mya. In 2005, Lil’ Kim recorded her fourth album, The Naked Truth, considered by professionals as one of the best rap albums in history. In 2009, she participated in the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars. In 2013, she declares in an interview working on a new mixtape Hard Core: Back 2 da Streetz. This sequel to her first album is scheduled for October 2013 but the release is postponed. On February 18, 2014, she unveiled an excerpt of one of the songs, but neither the final version nor the album have official release dates.
Since June 9, 2014, Lil’ Kim is a mother of a little Royal Reign, the result of her relationship with the rapper Mr. Papers.
