Karl Glusman was born on January 3, 1988 in New York, USA, to an Irish mother and a German father. He grew up in Portland, Oregon where his parents moved when he was only a few months old. He went to school there and enrolled at the University of Portland. But after one year of study, he decided to leave everything to try his luck in New York, where he enrolled in acting classes.
In 2008, he made his film debut and got a small role in Andy Mingo’s The Iconographer. But the beginnings are difficult and the aspiring actor scours the castings for several years. In 2012, he appears in a short film, Blow up, and lends his voice for the animated film Starship Troopers: Invasion in 2012.
In 2015, his career takes a new turn, the director Gaspar Noé entrusts him with one of the main roles in his film Love. The film is presented at the Cannes Film Festival in the Midnight Show selection and allows Karl Glusman to climb the steps of the palace. The same year, the actor is in the poster of several films; Harassed, Stonewall and Embers. In 2016, he turns under the direction of Nicolas Winding Refn in the horror film, The Neon Demon, alongside Keanu Reeves and Elle Fanning. The following year, he joined the cast of Tom Ford’s second feature film; Nocturnal Animals and joined the series Gypsy broadcast on Netflix.
His career launched, Karl Glusman is in the poster of three films in 2019; Wounds, Above Suspicion and Greyhound. In May 2019, the actor returns to the Cannes Film Festival for Gaspar Noé’s medium-length film Lux Aeterna, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beatrice Dalle.
On the private side, in October 2018, Zoë Kravitz announced her engagement to the actor, after two years of romance. On June 29, 2019, the couple got married in Paris. At the end of December 2020, Zoë Kravitz begins divorce proceedings after 18 months of marriage.
