Justin Trudeau was born on December 25, 1971 in Ottawa, Canada. The eldest son of Pierre Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada and Margaret Trudeau, he spent his childhood in Montreal with his two brothers Alexandre and Michel. He was six years old when his parents separated. After graduating from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (1994) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia (1998), he worked at a number of odd jobs, including nightclub bouncer. The year 1998 was marked by a family tragedy, the death of his younger brother Michel in an avalanche.

Justin Trudeau then began a career in teaching and became a French teacher in Vancouver. On September 28, 2000, his father died at the age of 80. At his funeral, Justin gave a speech to pay tribute to him, which left a lasting impression. His political involvement gradually caught up with him. In 2002, he decided to give up teaching and returned to Montreal to become president of the board of directors of Katimavik, a youth service program created by his father. Between 2002 and 2003, he resumed his engineering studies at the Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal and then enrolled in a master’s degree in environmental geography at McGill University.

In 2006, Justin Trudeau decided to get involved in the political life of his country and ran for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada. In October 2008, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for the riding of Papineau (he was re-elected in 2011 and 2015). On April 14, 2013, with 80% of the votes in the first round, he became leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. His rise to power was meteoric. A charismatic politician, his popularity continues to grow. In October 2015, his party won the federal election and Justin Trudeau was appointed Prime Minister. On November 4, 2015, he was sworn in as Canada’s second youngest prime minister at age 43.

On March 12, 2020, Sophie Trudeau tested positive for the coronavirus and was placed in indefinite quarantine. Justin Trudeau was placed in isolation for a period of 14 days.
