Born on September 27, 1972 in Los Angeles, Gwyneth Paltrow is a child of the seraglio. Her father, director Bruce William Paltrow, is a well-known television series producer, her mother, Blythe Danner, is a stage actress, and her brother, Jake, is a director. As a teenager, she cut short her art history studies at the University of California to study acting.

At first reluctant, her parents encouraged her to pursue this path, and in 1991 her godfather, Steven Spielberg, offered her the role of Wendy in Hook. Her career was launched and the international success of David Fincher’s thriller Seven in 1995 brought her a little notoriety. The blonde then went on to make a string of romantic comedies (Emma the matchmaker, Heads and Tails, Great Expectations). Very demanding with herself, Gwyneth aims for perfection. Her work was rewarded in 1999 for her interpretation of Viola de Lesseps (aspiring actress!) in Shakespeare in Love. She was only 27 years old at the time and received the Oscar for best actress, the consecration!

A coveted actress, she played alongside Michael Douglas in The Perfect Murder (1999), Jude Law in The Talented Mr Ripley (1999), Anthony Hopkins in Proof (2005) etc… Gwyneth is serious but can also be self-mocking, as shown by her roles in The Tenenbaum Family (2001) Extraordinary Love (2001), Hostess at Any Price (2003). After an already busy filmography and in her early thirties, Gwyneth decides to slow down the pace of filming to devote herself to her family. Her participation in the three opus of the Iron Man saga since 2008, allows her to come back to the forefront of the scene. In 2011, she receives the Emmy Award for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, Glee.

Away from the movie set, Gwyneth discovers a passion for cooking and being a stay-at-home mum. She launches an advice blog,, which gradually grows richer with her cooking recipes. In 2011, she is publishing a family cookbook, My father’s daughter, in which she revisits her father’s favourite recipes. A nostalgic and joyful nod to this beloved father, who passed away in 2002 from throat cancer.

On the private side, after a few disappointing love affairs with famous actors such as Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck and Luke Wilson, Gwyneth meets the father of her children, the singer of the Coldplay group, Chris Martin. In December 2003, their surprise wedding is celebrated in Santa Barbara in an intimate ceremony far from their respective families. The following year, they welcomed a little girl named Apple, who was born on May 14, 2004 in London. Their son, Moses, joined the family two years later, on April 8, 2006. On March 25, 2014, the couple announced their separation in a joint press release published on Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow’s trend site. Their divorce is pronounced in July 2016. The actress finds love again on the arm of producer and screenwriter Brad Falchuck. On January 8, 2018, the actress announces her engagement to Brad Falchuck. On September 29, 2018, the couple get married in the Hamptons near New York City.
