Gillian Anderson, real name Gillian Leigh Anderson is an American actress born on August 9, 1968, known for having played from 1993 to 2002 the agent Dana Scully in the series X Files: on the borders of reality.

Born into a modest family, Gillian spent her childhood in London and her adolescence in the United States. Although a good student, Gillian was nevertheless passionate about acting and took acting classes. In 1993, she was noticed by director Chris Carter, who offered her the chance to play alongside David Duchovny in the now cult series X Files. Scully’s performance was a huge success and she received an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for Best TV Actress. The actress also played the same role in two feature films related to the series: The X-Files: The Film, released in 1998 and The X-Files: Regeneration, released in 2008.

But Gillian Anderson’s career cannot be summed up by the series that made her a star. Her film credits include The Last King of Scotland (2006) and Shadow Dancer (2012). In between filming, the actress also likes to take to the stage; she appeared in A Doll’s House in 2009 and A Streetcar Named Desire in 2014.
