Long ago, in a forgotten time, a force destroyed the balance of the seasons. In a land where summer can last for years and winter for a lifetime, sinister and supernatural forces are at work at the gates of the Seven Crowns. The brotherhood of the Night’s Watch, protecting the realm from any creature that may come from beyond the protective Wall, no longer has the resources to keep everyone safe. After a ten-year summer, a harsh winter descends upon the Kingdom with the promise of a bleak future. Meanwhile, plots and rivalries play out across the continent to seize the Iron Throne, the symbol of absolute power.

Season 1

In Westeros, a fantasy continent, powerful families vie for the Iron Throne, a symbol of absolute power over the Seven Crowns. Several years after the rebellion sparked by the blind ambitions of Aerys II Targaryen, nicknamed the Mad King, Robert of House Baratheon sits on the coveted throne and rules the kingdom. Upon the death of Jon Arryn, his first advisor and mentor, Robert travels north to ask his childhood friend, Eddard Stark, Governor of the North and Lord of Winterfell, to become the new Hand of the King. Meanwhile, Eddard’s bastard son Jon Snow joins the Night’s Watch, an ancient brotherhood whose mission is to defend the Wall, a massive ice fortress protecting the realm from mythical creatures. Meanwhile, on the continent of Essos, Viserys and Daenerys, the exiled children of the Targaryen family, plot to return to Westeros and retake the Iron Throne. Between conspiracies, betrayals and power struggles, the Iron Throne will be the object of all covetousness.

Season 2

The Seven Crowns are at war, and each side is seeking new alliances. With the support of the powerful House Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon, Robert’s heir, now holds the Iron Throne. But the legitimacy of his reign is contested as Stannis and Renly, the young king’s uncles, also lay claim to the crown. For his part, Robb Stark continues his rebellion to avenge his father and free his sister Sensa, held captive in King’s Landing. At the Wall, Commander Jeor Mormont, backed by Jon Snow, continues to lead the Night’s Watch against the wildlings. Meanwhile, Daenerys Targaryen arrives at the city of Qarth where she hopes to find new allies to reclaim the throne.

Season 3

The fight for the Iron Throne continues. Joffrey Baratheon has won a precious victory and now leads the largest army in the kingdom. On the island of Peyredragon, Melisandre proposes to Stannis Baratheon that he use powerful magic to conquer the Iron Throne. At the same time, Robb Stark is questioning his strategy, and must decide on a course of action to achieve final victory. As the Night’s Watch faces the threat of the White Walkers, Jon Snow infiltrates the wildlings to uncover Mance Rayder’s plans. Daenerys, meanwhile, heads to the port city of Astapor to raise an army.

Season 4

After many victories, House Lannister is more powerful than ever and now holds absolute power over the Iron Throne. Prince Oberyn Martell arrives in King’s Landing to claim his place on the Restricted Council, and to seek justice for the murder of his sister. As he continues to rebuild his army at Peyredragon, Stannis Baratheon comes to the aid of the Night’s Watch to prevent the wildlings from breaching the Wall. Meanwhile, Daenerys Targaryen and her army head to the city of Meereen, which could provide valuable assistance.

Season 5

As war rages in Westeros, the Lannister family is weakened in King’s Landing. Jealous of the Tyrell family’s growing influence, and in order to retain what power she has left, Cersei Lannister institutes the Faith Militant, a religious regime ruled by fanatics. At Castle Black, Jon Snow’s decisions regarding his new position in the Night’s Watch could deeply divide the brotherhood. Meanwhile, Stannis Baratheon sets out to conquer the north, while Tyrion, who has fled King’s Landing, joins forces with another side. Daenerys Targaryen is facing multiple rebellion movements in Meereen.

Season 6

After being publicly humiliated, Cersei Lannister seeks revenge on her enemies and to regain power. While Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy are on the run, Arya Stark is trying to survive, and continues her training to become a Shadowelf. In Meereen, Tyrion Lannister is doing everything he can to avoid a war in Daenerys’ absence. Meanwhile, at Castle Black, Alliser Thorne takes command of the Night’s Watch, while Tormund works to free the remaining followers of Jon Snow. Meanwhile, Bran Stark continues to learn to master his powers with the Three-Eyed Crow, but his visions of the past could have far-reaching consequences for both the present and the future.

Season 7

After a summer that lasted nearly ten years, winter has arrived. Daenerys Targaryen, accompanied by her army and dragons, heads to Westeros in search of new allies. For his part, Jon Snow seeks to unite the northern houses and the wildlings to face the approaching army of White Walkers. In King’s Landing, Cersei Lannister, more isolated than ever, has retaken the Iron Throne and is struggling to hold on to power. To oppose the threat of the army of the dead led by the Night King, unexpected alliances will be needed.

Season 8

The fight for the Iron Throne is coming to an end as the White Walkers have broken through the Wall and entered Westeros. Who will end up on the Iron Throne and rule the Kingdom of the Seven Crowns?
