Francine Joy Drescher, more commonly known as Fran Drescher, was born in Flushing, Queens on September 30, 1957. Her mother is a wedding planner while her father is a naval engineer. Fran also has a sister, named Nadine.
Within this family cocoon, the little girl already dreams of show business and her parents enroll her in acting classes. It is precisely in this school, the High School of Hillcrest, that Fran, aged 15, meets Peter Marc Jacobson, who will become her husband in 1978. After studying in the cosmetics industry and opening her own hair salon, Fran and her boyfriend continued to audition, but without any real success.
In 1977, however, she finally got the role of Connie in Saturday Night Fever, alongside John Travolta. The following year, she began her acting career and the couple moved to Los Angeles. We find her first in the TV movie Summer of Fear, by Wes Craven but also and especially in many series, including the one that brings him fame.
It is indeed with A Nanny from hell in which she plays the character of Fran Fine between 1993 and 1999 that the actress truly acquires her letters of nobility. For this role, she was nominated several times for the Golden Globes, as well as for other awards in 1996, 1997 and 1999.
On a more personal level, Fran divorced Peter Marc Jacobson and remarried in September 2014 to Shiva Ayyadurai, an American scientist.
