With an actor father and a model mother, Eddie Redmayne, born on 6 January 1982, could hardly escape his fate! Although he burned the boards right after his art studies, the young British man really started his professional career with the TV series Animal Ark (1998) and Doctors (2003). He then went on to make films, including a role in Raisons d’État. The actor then returned to television, shooting alongside Clive Owen and Cate Blanchett in the miniseries Elizabeth: The Golden Age. He then moved on to Two Sisters for a King, where he played Scarlett Johansson and Nathalie Portman.
After a foray into the horror film in Black Death, he returns to his first love, playing in John Logan’s Red, thanks to which he won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2010. The play brings him double luck: indeed, by playing it this time on Broadway, he wins the prestigious Best Actor Award at the 64th Tony Awards. A well-known actor, he was then drawn into the 7th art, with a succession of films: My week with Marilyn, the musical Les Misérables…
With his devastating smile, he did not leave the big names in fashion indifferent either and became the face of Burberry. In 2014, the consecration comes with his interpretation of the paraplegic astrophysicist Stephen Hawking in the biopic A Wonderful Story of Time. In January 2015, he won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his stunning performance, and the Oscar for Best Actor in February 2015.
