Edward Westwick was born in Stevenage, Great Britain, on 27 June 1987, to a mother who was a psychologist and a father who was a teacher. He has two older brothers. At a very young age, Edward developed a passion for theatre. So it was only natural that he joined the National Youth Theatre in London to begin a career as an actor.

He first appeared in British television series such as Doctors, Casualty and Afterlife before flying to the United States where he acted alongside Jude Law and Juliette Binoche in 2006 in the feature film Breaking and Entering, directed by Anthony Minghella (The English Patient, The Talented Mr Ripley) playing the character of Zoran. That same year, he also appeared in the cast of the film Les fils de l’homme, directed by Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity) and starring Julianne Moore and Clive Owen.

However, it was in 2007 that Edward Westwick’s career really took off with the role of Chuck Bass in the American series Gossip Girl. He plays this character until 2012, when the last episode airs. In parallel to this success, Edward briefly participated in the third season of the Californication series in 2009, while remaining in the cinema in J. Edgar in 2012, a Clint Eastwood film starring Leonardo DiCaprio as John Edgar Hoover.

In November 2017, he was accused of rape by two actresses and was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.

On the personal side, Edward Westwick is romantically involved with Jessica Szohr, his partner in the 2008-2010 Gossip Girl series. Since the spring of 2017, he has been on the arm of model Jessica Serfaty.
