Daniel Moder was born on January 31, 1969 in Los Angeles where he discovered cinema thanks to his father, the producer Mike Moder.

After high school, he entered the University of Colorado where he earned a degree in psychology. He began his career in cinema by chance by working as a production assistant on the film Crimson Tide in 1995. The following year, he worked again as an assistant on the film The Fan. Feeling in his element, he decided to continue in the cinema and continued with films such as The Brave, Ennemi d’Etat, The Big Tease and Tuesdays with Morrie. In 2000, he became director of photography for the first time for the short film Kid Quick.

His work did not go unnoticed and the following year he worked as DOP on the film The Mexican with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. He fell in love at first sight with the actress and Daniel waited until his divorce was finalized to begin a relationship with her. The two of them meet again 3 years later on the set of Le Sourire de Mona Lisa of which she is the headliner. Perfectly following the dramas that blockbusters like Spider-Man 3, Daniel also works in television by signing the photography of the TV movie The Normal Heart. His talent is rewarded with an Emmy nomination for Best Photography in 2014.
