Damian Lewis was born on February 11, 1971 in England. A real jack-of-all-trades, he is known for his roles in theater, cinema and especially television.

Before breaking through on the small screen, the actor made his debut on the stage. He played opposite Ralph Fiennes in an adaptation of the famous play by Shakespeare Hamlet in 1995. In 2002, he appeared for the first time in the cinema in the horror film Dreamcatcher, adapted from a novel by Stephen King. Four years later, he is in the poster of An Unfinished Life alongside Jennifer Lopez, Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman. If his film career is quite quiet, television offers several opportunities.

He reveals himself to the public in 2001 with his role of Major Richard D. Winters in the mini-series Band of Brothers (Brothers in Arms) produced by Steven Spielberg. The latter knows him very well because he discovered him during a performance of Hamlet. In 2011, Damian returns to the forefront of the scene with the series Homeland. The actor plays Sergeant Nicholas Brody returned from Iraq after eight years of captivity and is suspected by Carrie Mathison – aka Claire Danes – of being a terrorist. This role earned him the 2012 Emmy Award and the 2013 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series. In 2016, he returned to television with the series Billions.

On the personal side, Damian Lewis is married to actress Helen McCrory. Together they have a daughter, Manon, born in 2006 and a son Gulliver, born in 2007. On April 16, 2021, his wife died at the age of 52 years of cancer.
