The French duo Daft Punk, is formed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. They met at the Carnot High School in Paris in 1987. But it is in 1993 that they launch Daft Punk. Little by little, word of mouth works and the band’s fame grows. It is the album Homework, in 1997, which allows them to get a first success. Their single Around the World truste the first places of the charts in many countries, in particular in the United States. The album sold two million copies. It is double gold record in France. With this masterstroke the group acquires an international reputation.

For the following album, Discovery, in 2001, Daft Punk appear masked for the first time. Decided to protect themselves from the star-system, they now use robot helmets to protect their privacy. In fact, little is known about their private life. Thomas Bangalter, son of Daniel Bangalter, one of the author-producers of the Creole Company, is married to the actress Elodie Bouchez with whom he has two little boys, Tarrajay and Roxan. Discovery, carried by the hit Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, is a new success. The album is close to three million copies sold.

In 2005, their third opus, Human After All, was released and received a more mixed reception. But their concerts continue to attract crowds. Two Grammy Awards, in 2009, reward their album Alive 2007 recorded live. And in July 2010, the group was made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.

In May 2013, their album Random Access Memories is released, preceded by a few weeks by the single Get Lucky, produced in collaboration with Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. It is a triumph. Get Lucky is topselling on iTunes in 92 countries and Random Access Memories is approaching three million copies sold. The French helmeted people are even entitled to the honors of the very serious economic newspaper Wall Street Journal, which in November 2013 will devote the front page of its issue on innovation to them.

On Monday, February 22, 2021, the duo announced their separation after 28 years of collaboration.
