Born on February 18, 1989, Cressida Bonas is the daughter of businessman Jeffrey Bonas and Mary Gaye Curzon, heiress of a banking family, daughter of the sixth Earl of Howe – a pre-war racecar driver and godson to King Edward VII – and a figure of the 1960s jet-set. Lady Mary Gaye distinguished herself at the time by posing in front of photographer John E. Green’s lens, her body covered only with gasoline, a tribute to her father’s career.

Cressida was 5 years old when her parents divorced; she was the only child born of this union, but had four half-brothers and sisters, since her mother, married and divorced four times, had five children. Her half-sister Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe dated Prince William in 2007, and her half-brother Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe is a long-time friend of Prince Harry.

After attending Stowe’s boarding school in Buckingham, where she discovered a passion for theater, Cressida finally devoted her studies to dance, attending schools worthy of her rank. She studied at the Royal Ballet of London for three years and graduated with a degree in dance from Leeds University. She then joined the Trinity Laban Conservatory in Greenwich, South London, where she is currently studying contemporary dance.

Cressida is well acquainted with the codes of the British aristocracy, and has long been associated with the royal family. A close friend of Princess Beatrice of York and her sister Eugenie, it is through Eugenie that Cressida is getting closer to Prince Harry at a music festival in May 2012.

In February 2013, it was during a vacation in a Swiss resort, in Verbier, in the company of his kind cousins Eugenie and Beatrice, that the Prince decided to make his story with Cressida official. But after two years of love, the couple separated in April 2014. On August 18, 2019, she announces her engagement on Instagram with Harry Wentworth-Stanley. On July 25, 2020, the couple get married in a secret ceremony.
