Born June 13, 1986 in California, Ashley Olsen is an actress, fashion designer, producer and businesswoman. A former child star, she is known for her role as Michelle Tanner, which she shared with her sister, in the sitcom La Fête à la maison from 1987 to 1995.
Ashley Olsen began her career at the age of nine months in La Fête à la maison. In order to comply with child labour laws, the producers hired twins, each taking turns playing the role of Michelle Tanner. In parallel to the series, the sisters were shooting a series of films and television movies. In 1993, they founded their production company with their father and produced their films.
Until 2007, Ashley Olsen and her sister played one role after the other (Daddy, I have a mother for you in 1996, Desperately looking for a mother in 1998, Like father, like daughters in 1999…) but Ashley wants to make a career in fashion, which she does. Her sister joins her for good in 2012 after ending her acting career. Their clothing lines The Row, Elizabeth and James, OlsenBoye and Stylemint are successful worldwide.
In 2008 the twins released Influence, a book of their interviews with fashion photographers and designers. In 2012, the two sisters receive the Designer of the Year Award in the Women’s Fashion category. This coveted award is the equivalent of the Oscars of fashion.
On the personal side, Ashley Olsen was the companion of actor Justin Bartha from 2008 to 2011, and of director Bennett Miller from 2014 to 2016. In March 2017, after a few months of romance with businessman Richard Sachs, the couple separated.
