Anya Taylor-Joy was born on April 16, 1996 in Miami. Coming from an Anglo-Hispanic family, she lived for a while in the USA, then in Argentina and London, allowing her to be perfectly bilingual.

Trained in ballet and dance, she nevertheless turns to a career as an actress and starts with a small role in Vampire Academy in 2014. Although her participation was not credited, she made a name for herself the following year by becoming the heroine of the horror film The Witch. Presented at the Sundance Film Festival, this film was a huge critical success. Thanks to the role of Thomasin, the young girl was nominated for several awards for best young actress and her career took off. A few months later, she was featured in two films: Morgan, directed by Ridley Scott’s son, and Barry, a short biopic about the youth of Barack Obama.

In 2017, the young girl returns to the forefront with Split by M. Night Shyamalan. She plays one of the three young teenage girls kidnapped by Barry, a man with multiple personalities played by James McAvoy. Anya doesn’t seem ready to stop there.
