Cassandra Monique Batie, better known under the pseudonym Andra Day, was born on December 30, 1984 in San Diego. From an early age, she was passionate about music and joined the School of Creative and Performing Arts in San Diego.

In October 2012, she took advantage of the internet boom to record a cover of Mamma Knows Best which she shared on her YouTube channel. The video got her noticed by Warner Bros, who offered to sign her to a contract immediately. A few months later, she capsized the heart of Stevie Wonder, with whom she recorded Someday at Christmas in 2015. That same year, she went to the studio to record her album Cheers to the Fall, with which she received excellent reviews. Many compare her style and voice to those of Adele or even Amy Winehouse.
