Alex Rodriguez, born July 27, 1975 in New York City, is a baseball player of Dominican origin. In 1994, at just 19 years old, he began his career as a professional player with the Seattle Mariners team. He then joined the Texas Rangers in 2001.
In 2003, he won the title of Best Player in the American League for the first time. The young player was then spotted by the New York Yankees team, which he joined in 2004. Rodriguez has added numerous distinctions to his Yankee resume, being named the American League’s best player twice more, in 2005 and 2007, and winning the Silver Slugger Trophy for best third baseman in 2007 and 2008. In total, he has 14 All-Star Game selections.
But in 2013, his image was tarnished by a scandal; Major League Baseball suspended him for the entire 2014 season for doping. However, he returns in 2015. In August 2016, he announced that he was putting an end to his playing career, and played his last game with the Yankees. In March 2017, he began his retraining and became a sports consultant for the American channel Fox Sports.
On the private side, Alex Rodriguez married Cynthia Scurtis in 2002. The couple has two daughters, Natascha Alexander (born in 2004) and Ella Alexander (born in 2008). In July 2008, his wife filed for divorce, citing her husband’s infidelities.
