Rama X celebrates his 68th birthday this Tuesday July 28, 2020. On this occasion, Closer invites you to learn more about the private life of the King of Thailand and in particular to discover who are the five women he married, during of his life. The first of these being Princess Soamsavali Kitiyakara, one of her first cousins. The wedding took place in January 1977 and the couple gave birth to Princess Bajrakititabha Mahidol in 1978, before quickly separating, without however divorcing.
Rama X then met Yuvadhida Polpraserht, an actress who became the mother of five of his children between 1979 and 1985 (notably Princess Sirivannari). In 1991, when the divorce of the Crown Prince of Thailand with his first wife was finally recorded, the couple got married but, again, it did not last. In 1996, the actress fled to the United Kingdom with three of their children. Rama X accuses him of adultery, divorces and recovers custody of their five children. In 2001, the crown prince secretly married Srirasmi Akharaphongpreecha who became, in 2005, the mother of his seventh child. The marriage lasted thirteen years before the prince’s third divorce was pronounced, in 2014.
Rama X, polygamist for three months
Three days before his coronation, in May 2019, Rama X married his fourth wife, Suthida Tidjai, an air hostess he has been seeing for a few years. The latter then becomes the Queen Consort of Thailand and it is she who appears alongside Rama X during various public events. But this is not the last wife of the King … Indeed, in July 2019, polygamy being allowed in Thailand, Rama X married Sineenat Bilaskalayani, a commoner 33 years his junior. However, last October, the King repudiates the young woman, accusing her of having “acted against the position of the Queen in order to serve her own ambitions”.
