Prince William not so closed to his brother? Last March, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry officially left the British royal family, relinquishing their official duties to embrace a new life in California. An announcement that was a blow to the Windsors, but also to Prince William, forced to live far from his brother, on whom he had relied for several years. But as the Megxit fast approached last March, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex honored their final family commitments on Commonwealth Day. And that day, Prince William made a special gesture towards his brother.
If it was said cold and distant towards the Sussex couple when he entered Westminster Abbey with his wife Kate Middleton, the Duke of Cambridge had nevertheless decided not to go up the nave with Elizabeth II and Prince Charles as the wants tradition, and this because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had been excluded from the royal procession. “He therefore decided that he and Kate would be happy to dispense with the procession to take place, without ceremony, within the assembly”, tells Robert Lacey to Point of view.
The Megxit, the “best decision” for Meghan and Harry
A thoughtful gesture that was perhaps meant to pick up the pieces with his brother Harry, who officiated there for his last royal engagement with family. Since then, it is in California, with Meghan Markle and his son Archie that the prince lives. A Megxit which turned out to be the best solution the Sussex couple found to stand on their own two feet, and which according to Robert Lacey would be an initiative of Prince Harry himself, supported by his wife. And which, according to the latter, was “the best decision” for their family, even if it was not “very popular” in their entourage.
