Son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, Prince William was born on June 21, 1982 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. Now 40 years old, he will one day sit on the throne of England, once his grandmother, Elizabeth II, and his father are no longer in this world. On the occasion of his birthday, Closer decided to retrace the most important events in the life of the future ruler of the United Kingdom. It was during an official visit by his parents to Cardiff, Wales, that Prince William made his very first public appearance on March 1, 1991.
The childhood of the future sovereign was obviously marked by the highly publicized divorce of his parents, then by the tragic death of his mother, in a sadly famous car accident under the Alma bridge, in Paris, in 1997. S he confided to his late mother that he wanted to become a police officer to protect people when he was younger, Prince William eventually turned to a military career due to his rank in the British Royal Family . Admitted to the prestigious Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst in 2006, he came out the same year with his officer’s diploma, thus becoming a Lieutenant. After being promoted to Captain during his time in the Royal Air Force, Prince William left the military in 2013.
Prince William: a not-so-obvious love affair with Kate Middleton
On the private side, it was in 2002 that the son of Prince Charles met for the first time the one who was to become his future wife: Kate Middleton. While their relationship was formalized in 2003, the couple separated in 2007, before reforming only a few months later. Officially engaged in 2010, Prince William and Kate Middleton were married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. On this occasion, he received the title of Duke of Cambridge. The couple have since given birth to three children. Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, born in 2013, who will therefore one day inherit the British throne, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, born in 2015, and Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge, born in 2018.
