Prince William is very popular. So much so that a large part of public opinion would like to see him succeed his grandmother Elizabeth II. A poll published recently by the Daily Mirror, indicates that the British are 47% to want that it is prince William and not prince Charles who becomes king. But, as tradition dictates, it is his father, Prince Charles, who is the first in the order of succession and therefore the heir to the throne.
Even if it is not for now, the Duke of Cambridge, second in the line of succession, has always been preparing for it. “He always knew what was expected of him when he was crowned king”, assures a source close to the royal family in the magazine Us Weekly. “William was prepared from an early age for this crucial role he was to play within the monarchy.”
Unlike his brother Prince Harry who could not stand the media pressure and his leading role in the royal family, his eldest Prince William manages the spotlight better. “His notoriety was difficult to manage when he was younger, but it certainly had a more negative impact on Harry. William accepts that it is part of the job and he copes well with it”, analyzes the close to Buckingham Palace .
He escapes to Cornwall with Kate to recharge the batteries
But this apparent serenity hides “moments of doubt”, according to the same source which recalls that the future king is a “human being” above all and that he is “in the grip of doubt” like everyone else. The Duke of Sussex had said in his explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey that his older brother was “trapped” in the royal family.
Trapped seems like a big word. When doubt invaded him, Diana’s son set sail for the southwest of England. “There are times when he and Kate want to get out of sight and escape to Cornwall to recharge the batteries.” Last July, the princely couple took up their summer quarters in the Isles of Scilly. A more than measured escape compared to Prince Harry who went into exile with his wife Meghan Markle in the United States last year.
