On February 16, Prince Philip caused quite a fright to his family. The Duke of Edinburgh fell ill, and as a result was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London. “His hospitalization is a precautionary measure on the advice of the doctor of His Royal Highness”, explained Buckingham Palace in a statement. Although his state of health is neither worrying nor linked to the Coronavirus, Prince Philip must remain under observation at the clinic. As Rebecca English, royal expert for the Daily Mail, has revealed, doctors prefer to keep him under surveillance for a few more days.
Prince Philip is therefore expected to be released from hospital over the next week, and return home to Windsor. Until then, the husband of the Queen of England can count on the support of his relatives. His son, Prince Charles, visited him on Sunday, February 20. At around 3:20 p.m., the 72-year-old Duke was pictured entering King Edward VII Hospital, dressed in a gray suit, white shirt and with a mask on his face.

Despite the context of the health crisis, the son of Queen Elizabeth II was able to visit his father. From his country residence at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, Prince Charles traveled more than 320 kilometers on this very important visit to him. Father and son had not seen each other since Christmas, and the two were able to enjoy 30 minutes together. According to information from the Mirror, Prince Charles entered the medical center unaided. The tabloid also claims he was seen with wet eyes at the end of his visit. It must be said that the health of Prince Philip, aged 99, is fragile. On June 10, he will be celebrating his 100th birthday. Withdrawn from public life since 2017, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II is very discreet in the front of the media scene and hardly participates in official events.
