Prince Harry attracted a lot of readers with his memoir
But it looks like sales are collapsing
A journalist explains that they have fallen by 105%

The year 2022 ended very successfully for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Their documentary series, Harry & Meghan, which aired on Netflix, topped the fifth season of The Crown. The memoirs of the Duke of Sussex, published on January 10, have also been a great success. But now the enthusiasm for the book is running out of steam. So said journalist Roger Friedman. Indeed, on Thursday January 26, 2023, he indicated on his blog that sales of Prince Harry’s autobiography fell by 105% between the first and second week. “It’s staggering. Second week sales were only 195,000 [copies], according to NPD Book Scan. First week sales were 629,000,” he said.

However, the book has been a real success, so much so that sales have been compared to those of Barack Obama’s book, published in 2020. But now for this journalist, this comparison no longer works. “Compared to President Obama’s book, Harry really fell apart. Obama had only lost 51% of his sales in his second week. Of course, this book was inspirational, not malign.” If his book is experiencing some difficulties, Prince Harry’s projects continue.

Prince Harry’s plans

Indeed, many channels would be in the process of tearing off the presence of prince Harry so that he comments on the coronation of his father, organized next May. “Major networks are trying to lure Prince Harry with mega-deals to secure their audience,” writes the Sunday Express. According to a ‘highly placed’ source within US networks, ‘the channel bosses are willing to pay a hefty seven-figure sum to land one of the biggest royal hits of all time’. “An executive told me it was worth $5 million, the insider continues. Watching a new king be crowned while his son sits on a couch talking to viewers would blast the audience, even if Harry avoids the controversy and does not show the gulf that exists between them.”
