The Duke and Duchess of Sussex caused a stir at the “Salute to Freedom” gala on Wednesday 10 November. The couple traveled to New York to pay their respects to the veterans. If Meghan Markle was resplendent in a long low-cut red dress signed Carolina Herrara, Prince Harry wore a much more sober outfit. He had simply put on a tuxedo with a bow tie, on which he had hung his military medals.
If the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II served for ten years in the British Army, he is no longer allowed to wear his military uniform. For good reason, his departure from the British royal family for the United States. For the occasion, he presented medals for the Intrepid Valor Awards to five military personnel, veterans and military families. Accompanied by his wife Meghan Markle, he then went to meet several soldiers.
Prince Harry then said: “My experience in the military made me who I am today and I will always be grateful to the people I served with – no matter where we were in the world.” He continued, “But in war you also see and experience things that you hope no one else has to experience.” During his ten years in the service of the British Army, Prince William’s brother had visited Afghanistan twice, where he had witnessed very difficult scenes.
