In 1979, in Perth, Australia, Mr. and Mrs. Ledger welcomed a second child. They name him Heathcliff, but everyone calls him by his diminutive, Heath. Heath Ledger … Later, he will be an actor, one of the most famous of his generation … An express career, before dying far too soon.

As a child, Heath Ledger was a real jack of all trades. In his school, he plays, dances and receives field hockey awards. And then outside, he also practices surfing, fishing and skateboarding. But his passion is above all to play on stage. He made his debut at the age of ten in a local company and played the role of Peter Pan. At 12, he first appeared in a movie, and at 16, his career took shape as he acted in a series shot in his hometown. On the set, he meets Martin Henderson, another actor, who offers to accompany him to Sydney to shoot in big productions. He accepts. Heath won’t go to college, and won’t take classes at a major theater school. He launches straight into his career with, as he tells it, the desire to work as quickly as possible.

He then connects small contracts, until succeeding in 1997 to obtain the main role in a series of fantasy. In terms of audience, it’s a flop … But this experience allows him to be spotted by an American agent and to meet the actress Lisa Zane, 18 years his senior, with whom he begins an affair. Here he is flying to Los Angeles where he finds his girlfriend, but once there, he does not find a job. It was not until 1999 that he found a role in a film … In the meantime, loves are linked. After Lisa Zane, he goes out with actress Heather Graham, then begins an affair with model Christina Cauchi, before leaving her in turn for actress Naomi Watts.

His career took off, and he was even crowned “man of the year” by the Australian magazine Gentlemen’s Quarterly, in the actor category. However, his relations with the press are sometimes strained, because of the bad behavior of certain paparazzi who annoy him on vacation. One day, weary, he throws an egg at them. In 2005, it is the consecration thanks to his role of Ennis Del Mar, a bisexual cowboy in the film The Secret of Brokeback Mountain. He received numerous awards and ended up nominated for the Oscars in the category of Best Actor. It was on the set of this film that he met his new partner, Michelle Williams. She quickly became pregnant and their daughter Matilda Rose was born within a year.

Two years later, the actor was chosen to play the Joker in the movie The Dark Knight. For this film, he isolates himself for weeks to become one with the character. The success is monster, it is the second most lucrative American film in theaters in the history of the United States. During the day he shines, but in the evening his energy never stops, he only sleeps a few hours a night. His brain is spinning nonstop. For lack of anything better, he turns to drugs to alleviate this problem. But on January 22, 2008, he died of acute poisoning due to the combined effects of all these pills ingested: antidepressants, anxiolytic, analgesic. The cocktail left him no chance. The police conclude with an accidental death related to prescriptions wrongly added.

A year later, he posthumously received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Joker. His family comes to look for him on stage, paying him a vibrant tribute.
